Privacy Policy
Effective [effective date] · Pinpoint Flights LLC
Draft. Pinpoint Flights is not open to the public yet. Items in [brackets] are filled in when the company and its registrations are in place, and this document will be reviewed by a lawyer before it takes effect.
1. The short version
- You can search without an account. We keep what you searched for so your search link works and so we can improve results.
- If you book, we share traveller details with the airline and our booking partner because the ticket can't be issued without them.
- We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
This policy explains what Pinpoint Flights LLC (“we”, “us”) collects through the Pinpoint Flights website and what we do with it.
2. What we collect
When you search
- What you type in the trip description box and the filters you set: places, dates, number and ages of travellers, bags, cabin and preferences.
- The searches you run and their results, stored under the short link for that search.
- Your IP address and the region it places you in, used to prevent abuse and to check that the service is available where you are.
- When you click through to a partner website: which result and partner you chose, and your IP address.
When you book
- For each traveller: name, date of birth, gender and, where the airline requires it, passport or ID details.
- Contact details: email address and phone number.
- Payment: card details are entered on our payment processor's secure form and go directly to it. We receive only a confirmation and limited details such as the card brand and last four digits.
- Your booking and any messages you send us about it.
We don't ask for accounts or passwords, and we don't intentionally collect sensitive information. Please don't put it in the trip description.
3. How we use it
- To run your search, show the results and keep your search link working.
- To make and manage bookings: issuing tickets, sending confirmations, handling changes, cancellations and refunds, and airline schedule changes.
- To keep the service working and safe: preventing fraud, spam and automated abuse, and limiting use per person.
- To improve search results and the search assistant, mostly using searches in aggregate.
- To meet legal duties, such as tax and seller-of-travel record keeping, and to respond to lawful requests.
5. Cookies and browser storage
We don't use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. The site stores a few things in your own browser's local storage, which never leave your device unless you run a search:
- whether you chose light or dark mode;
- a copy of your recent searches (up to 30), so a search link can be restored if our server doesn't have it;
- whether the grid view is open or collapsed.
You can clear these at any time in your browser settings. Partner websites you visit through our links may set their own cookies under their own policies.
6. How long we keep it
- Searches and their results: up to 24 months, after which we delete them or strip anything that could identify you.
- IP addresses in security and click-through logs: up to 90 days.
- Booking records: as long as the law requires for tax, accounting and seller-of-travel purposes, normally 7 years.
7. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to give you a copy. Depending on the state you live in, you may have these rights by law; we offer them to everyone in the US. Email [[email protected]]. We will confirm your request, may need to verify who you are, and will respond within 45 days. We won't treat you differently for exercising these rights. We may need to keep some booking records that the law requires us to retain.
8. Security
We protect data with encrypted connections, limited access and payment handled entirely by our processor. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.
9. Children
Pinpoint Flights is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect information directly from children under 13. When a parent or guardian books for a child, we collect the child's details only to book their travel.
10. Changes to this policy
We will post any changes here with a new effective date, and give notice on the site before significant changes take effect.
